Website Privacy Policy

Written in plain language on purpose. Effective October 1, 2026.

  1. 1. Who we are

The Legacy Center, Inc. is an Alabama nonprofit recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) public charity (EIN 47-3746786), located at 415-A Church Street NW, Suite 100, Huntsville, AL 35801. For anything in this policy, email info@letstalklegacy.com or call (256) 777-4224.

  2. 2. What this policy covers

The public website at letstalklegacy.com and the forms on it. Records about participants enrolled in our programs are covered separately; families receive that privacy information at enrollment.

  3. 3. Information you give us

You can use the website without giving us any personal information. Our forms ask only for what we need to call you back: your name, your relationship to the person needing care, email, phone, the best time to call, your loved one’s first name and age, the kind of help you are looking for, and an optional scheduling note. The volunteer form asks for your interests and availability. The newsletter asks for your email address. Please keep health information off every form, including free-text boxes; we talk through care needs by phone or in person, where that conversation belongs.

  4. 4. Information collected automatically

Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs (connecting address, pages requested, browser, time) for security and to keep the site running. We use Google Analytics to learn which pages help people; it sets cookies and reports activity in aggregate, and we do not use it to identify you. The map on the contact page is provided by Google under Google’s own privacy policy. We do not run advertising on this site.

  5. 5. How we use it

To respond to you, schedule visits and assessments, coordinate volunteers, send the newsletters you asked for, process and acknowledge donations, improve the website, and meet our legal and reporting obligations as a nonprofit. We do not use your information for any purpose unrelated to why you gave it to us.

  6. 6. Who we share it with

We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information. We share it only with the providers that make the website work, each under its own privacy terms: Web3Forms (delivers form submissions to our inbox), Google Workspace (our email), GoFundMe Pro (donations; card details go directly to them and we never see them), Zeffy (guardian training registration), Netlify (hosting and the server logs above), and Google (analytics and the map). We may also disclose information when the law requires it or when someone’s safety depends on it.

  7. 7. How long we keep it

Form submissions stay in our email and records for as long as we need them to respond to you and keep an accurate record of our work, and are then deleted. Newsletter addresses stay on the list until you unsubscribe. Donation records are kept as long as tax and accounting rules require.

  8. 8. Your choices

Every newsletter has an unsubscribe link at the bottom. Email us to ask what information we hold about you, to correct it, or to have it deleted; we respond within thirty days. You can block or delete cookies in your browser and the website will still work.

  9. 9. Children

This website is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has submitted information, contact us and we will delete it.

  10. 10. Photographs and stories

Photographs and stories of participants, families, volunteers and events appear on the website only with written permission from the person shown or from the person authorized to give it on their behalf. If you would like an image of yourself or a family member removed, contact us and we will take it down.

  11. 11. Security

The website is served over an encrypted connection, access to form submissions is limited to staff who need it, and our providers are chosen for their security practices. No method of storing or sending information is completely secure, so we cannot promise absolute security, but we take reasonable steps to protect what you share.

  12. 12. Other websites

Links to our donation page, social media pages and partner organizations lead to sites with their own privacy policies, which this policy does not cover.

  13. 13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version, with its effective date, will always be at letstalklegacy.com/privacy, and material changes will be noted there.
