The Legacy Center's Guardianship of Last Resort program operates in partnership with the Madison County Probate Court — serving incapacitated adults who have no one else to advocate for them.
When the system runs out of options, we step in.
In partnership with Madison County Probate Court, our Guardianship Program offers comprehensive care and legal advocacy for incapacitated adults — safeguarding their rights, safety, dignity, and well-being through personalized support and compassionate oversight.
Some adults in our community have no family, no legal representative, and no one to advocate for their needs. The Legacy Center serves as the guardian of last resort — making medical, financial, and care decisions in each individual's best interest, with the same compassion we bring to every program we run.

Serving as a court-appointed guardian?
Fundamentals of Guardianship is a full-day class for new and continuing court-appointed guardians in Alabama. We hold it the first Monday of every month. When that Monday is a holiday, class moves to the following Monday. Registration closes the Monday before each class.
